What is a Softphone?
A Softphone is short for Software
Telephone. It is a program allows you to make and receive
telephone calls (and sometime video calls) from your computer.
Additional features may include video calling, call recording and
presence (who's currently online).
Your Computer needs to be on and connected to
the internet for ANY softphone to work. That includes "other"
internet calling programs like Skype.
| Skype Warning: Skype may just happen
to be the world's most popular free calling service but it does
not mean it is the best system to use. (Remember VHS vs Beta in
the home video market) Skype's main failing is that it does NOT
follow industry standards and protocols. If you initiate a call
with Skype you MUST use Skype for all your calling. With mySmartFone
you can call ANY other VoIP service for free, including Skype

One obvious difference between mySmartFone and
Skype, however, is with mySmartFone you have the option of NOT using
your computer. In fact, using your computer is just ONE of the MANY options available.
If you prefer to convert your current telephone
to work with your Internet Phone Account then you will need to purchase
an ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) for our shop or from one of
the many suppliers on the net.
SmartFone also has a selection
of the latest SIP Telephones which
provide fully digital, advanced features not found on regular analog
phones.
Softphones are
NOT SUPPORTED by SmartFone. We do, however, provide basic setup
instructions for some softphones to help you get them running on
various computers and operating systems.

security, more codecs, encryption, IPv6, 6 lines, unlimited
SIP accounts. Commercial user licence. Ideal for connection
to corporate IP PABXs.
